Utilizing Empowering Narratives For Individual Growth and Resilience
I’m an educator, mentor, speaker, and the heart behind Black Girls College Guide and Detroit Kids Go to College. Everything I do is rooted in one mission: to help Black girls and students from underrepresented communities feel seen, supported, and prepared to succeed—in school, in life, and in who they are.
Whether you’re a student, parent, educator, or community partner, this space is built to uplift and empower. From hands-on mentorship and college readiness tools to books that pour love and confidence into young girls, I’m here to help the next generation walk boldly in their brilliance.
Ready to connect, collaborate, or bring one of these messages to your school or organization?
Let’s do something powerful together.
SERVICES
For Black Girls
This workshop series empowers Black girls by dispelling myths about college, providing strategies to overcome obstacles and building confidence in their academic pursuits while utilizing storytelling. Through interactive sessions and engaging activities, I aim to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to excel in higher education.
For Organizations
These workshops aim to promote awareness, foster understanding, and develop actionable strategies for creating more inclusive and equitable workplaces.
I’m Dr. Courtney A. Griffin—educator, mentor, speaker, and founder of Black Girls College Guide and Detroit Kids Go to College. I’m a Detroit, MI native. My mission is simple: to help Black girls and students from underrepresented communities succeed in school, believe in themselves, and confidently walk toward their futures.
Through my work, I’ve supported hundreds of students with college prep, mentorship, and wellness tools that speak to the whole person—not just the test scores. I believe that when young people see their value early, they carry it with them everywhere they go.
I’m also the author of two affirmation books that pour life and love into our girls at every stage:
I’m Not Just Pretty, I’m Smart Too – for school-aged girls discovering their power
You Got This – for college-bound girls stepping into their next chapter with confidence
Whether I’m writing, mentoring, or speaking in schools, my goal is always the same: to remind Black girls that they are enough, they are capable, and they deserve to take up space in every room they enter.
Let’s build futures full of purpose, power, and possibility—together.
